Some people are a bit overwhelmed about the idea of volunteering. To them we say, just dive in and allow one of our Care Team Leaders to help you find just the right volunteer opportunity for your skills, interests and time availability.
There are so many ways that you can support the FAM.  Foster families are grateful for any help you can give. Most people want to help vulnerable children and families, but they just don’t know how or where to start. We need FAMILY HELPERS, CHILD MENTORS and CARE TEAM LEADERS.  Foster families who give 24/7 care to these vulnerable children are waiting for your love and support.
Care Team Leaders
The Team Leader provides structure, communication and leadership for their assigned foster or adoptive family. These volunteers contact their Supported Family weekly and sends their Care Team (the Family Helpers and Child Mentors) a weekly email updating the team on prayer requests and needs. This role can be uniquely filled or combined with any of the above roles.

Child Mentors
Mentoring takes lots of different forms with these vulnerable children.  Unlike adult mentoring, which is very formal and structured, a child mentor does so by “doing life on life” with the child.  It takes place:

  • Hanging out at the playground or basketball court.
  • Driving the child to piano lessons, gymnastics, or a soccer game.
  • Going out for ice cream with the child when he gets a great report card from school.
  • Playing cards or board games with the kids while foster parents get a well-deserved date night!
Family Helpers
Often provide a meal once per month - delivered on the same day of the week and same week of each month.  Or…
Run errands for the busy foster parents. Or…
Work alongside the busy foster parents helping with housework or yardwork, all the while being am invaluable listening ear!
